i finally got the not-so-subtle hint from my parents that they'd like to turn my childhood bedroom into guestroom or something. the subtle hints have been coming for the past two years, to which i always respond that i'll get to it. and so they were pretty skeptical when i told them it’d be clean by the time they returned from their vacation (Monday, November 22nd). this blog will chronicle my adventures in sifting through years of my possessions and attempting to get rid of a lot of stuff.
throughout this process i will be practicing the fifth of the yamas (the yogic moral code):
Aparigraha--Abstention from greed. Not coveting that which is not ours. Avoidance of unnecessary acquisition of objects not essential to maintaining life or spiritual study. learn more about this here.
thank you for bearing witness to this journey.

a beautiful start! Cleaning your room is cleaning your mind.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see some pictures too! (Unless the comic strip itself depicts your room...!)
You can do it!! The outcome, as well as the process, will truly feel incredible!!
ReplyDeleteI also suggest listening to a little Dance Mix '95 for motivation.

I'm with you, girl. I'll be embarking on a similar process next week, so hopefully I can learn from you. Remember that some of your stuff might be worth saving for your future potential kids.

thanks, all, for these wonderful words and advice.
ReplyDeletek, maybe i'll designate one box to "stuff that might be worth saving for my future potential kids".
